Nutella and its ingredients, all you need to know.

When serving this treat at any time of the day, here are the things you might want to know.

Where does the Cocoa originate

The cocoa used in Nutella® originates mainly from the Ivory Coast and Ghana. The raw cocoa beans are processed to produce cocoa butter and cocoa powder directly in its factories.

Milk Powder of Fresh Milk?

The usage of milk powder for chocolate and confectionery products is based on technological purposes. Nutella chooses the best available for the best tasting product.

What kind of sugar is there in Nutella?

The sugar types we purchase globally can be roughly classified as follows: 75 % beet sugar and 25 % refined cane sugar.

Palm oil as an ingredient?

Contrary to some opportunistic views it is not correct to state that palm oil is detrimental to human health. Palm oil is used due to it's natural consistency and origin.

History

1946 Originally, Nutella® was a smart solution to a tricky problem: the shortage of cocoa supplies following World War Two. Pietro Ferrero, a pastry maker from Piedmont in Italy, ingeniously created a sweet paste made from hazelnuts, sugar and just a little of the rare cocoa.
